AMIN SHARIFI
BIOGRAPHY
Internationally acclaimed composer, Amin Sharifi (1993) belongs to the third generation of Iranian contemporary musicians. Sharifi’s music has been performed by such new-music ensembles as JACK Quartet, Hypercube, S.E.M., Luna Nova, DissonArt, Duo Sequenza, Pierrot-Tehran, and Breakout, and orchestras including the Indiana Philharmonic and the Arturo Toscanini Philharmonic. His works have been performed in the U.S., France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, and his home Iran, at eviMus 2018, first and third TCMF, Druskomanija Festival, and RISUONANZE 2018. His works have been called “creative, individualistic and artistic” by the critiques of Juilliard School of Music, and “product of an unbridled imagination” by Memphis Daily News. In summer 2017, his triple concerto TrombionOphone or Riders in the Field of Hope for soprano saxophone, trombone and accordion was the first -prize winner of the XXIII Edition of International Composition competetition Competition Concorso 2 Agosto and was performed by the Arturo Toscanini Philharmonic Orchestra in Piazza Maggiore in Bologna, Italy. Amin Sharifi studied composition at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music. He has had lessons with Georg Friedrich Haas, Krzysztof Penderecki, Sven-David Sandström, Peter Ablinger, Tansy Davies, Nader Mashayekhi, Dai Fujikura, Augusta Read Thomas, George Nussbaumer, Rolf Wallin, Alex Mincek, Kate Soper, Ken Ueno, John Gibson, Nina C. Young, Sean Shepherd, Mehdi Hosseini, David Dzubay, and Don Freund.
